Does this happen to others as well?

I've had this happen quite often on several different forums (including this forum). Someone asks a question and I post a solution. The OP doesn't acknowledge my post at all. Hours later, another poster comes along and posts a virtually identical solution (sometimes almost verbatim) and the OP comes back and tells the 2nd poster thanks for a great solution or whatever as if they never saw my post.

Why does this happen? Does it happen to others as well?

I have always considered it "Rude" for another poster to put the same info as a previous poster like it was his idea.

As everyone has said, it happens to others as well. Myself included.

Best thing you can do is ingore it and take pride in knowing that your solution in the end worked, regardless of someone posting it after yourself.

+1. Yes it does. It is no big deal. What happens is that when you post the OP is off line. When he/she comes back or refreshes the page, he/she looks to the most recent post.

That's a possible reason why it happens sometimes, others not so much.

Another similar thing is you post a thread about something like an article or update, and it will sit there for hours with not so much as one response. Then a little later on, someone else posts the same thing and it gets multiple responses.

Guess you could chalk that one up to no one seeing yours...I guess.

Carl .... exactly... so well said.. when you all have helped me.. I try to keep the link in my e-mail.. I can then keep going back to make sure I've seen every comment.. I know I'm a bit weird about this.. however I like to make sure I've acknowledged all for their input. If I've missed anyone .. it's an accident.
