    gtx 460 horizontal lines

    hi folks

I recently upgraded my old 9600 GT for something with a little more oomph - a GTX460. my card has been performing swimmingly until recently - ive noticed strange, wavy horizontal lines/flickering on screen in dark areas - particularly in games. this is usually accompanied by whining/buzzing sounds from the card itself. needless to say i'm concerned. I've checked and rechecked the drivers, booted into memtest for a full ram check and contacted the vendor (palit) without any luck. Its not a heat problem as far as i can tell, under stress the card hits about 61C maximum.

any ideas what could be causing this??

Put the old card back in and if that works ok then it might be a bad card..

heres a short video of the artifact (just a point - video and screen capture programs failed to show the artifact, so i had to use my iphone to video the artifact on screen - perhaps this is indicative of something?)

Just the usual check all your connections, make sure the card is seated properly and since both cards produce the same result try a different monitor.

i'm interested in talking to the thread maker as i have the exact same problem as him but slightly milder. i'm convinced it's to do with the graphics card being too quick for the refresh rate giving it a funny picture. might get a 100hz refresh rate screen.

    Same problem

Hi, I have the exact same problem. MSI gtx 560 TI Twin frozr 2 and Corsair GS600 PSU.
    PSU is at the bottom.
    CPU is a core2duo E8300.
Tried another monitor (both are VGA)
    tried another video card
removed everything electric from around the case and monitor
changed the socket in the wall
Please help if you solved the issue or know what is causing it.
