PS I have a 850watt Corsair PS
The size of the supply won't matter there from 450w with most cards to start with unless running a Crossfire or SLI setup. The problems being seen are more software even Windows related unless a card is bad.
I recently lost my CoolIt Eliminator to an electrical failure. I am stock air now. Prior, no BSOD on atikmdag.sys. After, all the time. I attribute this to heat. I have since put in a much bigger assembly - I don't know the name, it was in the attic - but it's big - no BSOD since.
Just sharing.
Zultar read this maybe it will help : AMD Game Forums - ATIKMDAG.sys problems and TDR FAQ
I've been using windows 7 drivers for my ati 4850, since catalyst 9.4 wasn't fully compatible with 7. Is it worth using the new 9.7 catalyst? Are they better than w7 ones?
ymmv - 9.6 works better for me - you really should update your drivers if you game - for 2d/desktop stuff it isn't so important.
that's interesting...i never checked and just installed 9.6 anyway...
then installed 9.7 a few days later to find my wei graphics score went down 0.9 points.
ah, but i also remember getting a very low wei during/after the os install due to default drivers, 9.6 boosted them a lot...
Antman thanks for sharing...
I see what you are saying, I think. No I know it is not a heat issue with me I have a custom build (by me) liquid cooling system. Runs decent cool.
Also thanks for the link for the AMD forums but been there and done that, LOL. I have googled the hell out of this error and have tried everything short of replacing the card. The odd thing is, it is not just 7 as it does it in Vista as well. Havnt tried it on XP thought yet, uggg. :)
PS I dont get the stopped responding error just hte BSOD with the atikmdag.sys error. On stock 7 drivers all good other then gaming, new cat drivers get it more often without even trying to game.
