New GPU Titan X = Lots of problems and horror !

Heya

So I have bought a new GPU Titan X. I'm a CGI Artist, Photoshop + Gammer. So kind off works for me quite well as 12gb of Vram is something that I can use and I can enjoy games.

I have a 2 month old System. Before I had GTX 680. Worked very well, no issues.

When I put in Titan X everything went mental. 1st photoshop crasshes all the time. It dont just crash. It locks up entire system. Freezes screen and then die off. Sometimes it survive and give me I/O error, log off skype and do weird stuff. It did not happen on 680 so I believe that I/O error its not HDD related but Titan issue.

So I tried new bios, new drivers, new DirectX installation, CCleaner and so on. Nothing help.

I'm considering reinstalling window. Actually I'm considering overinstalling/repairing windows. As its a fresh system I dont want to format . So for now I try to repair if that wont work then format and reinstall.

I had 2 Titan X cards. So its not card related. As I had it replaced by shop and I have the same problem. So I do not think its Hardware related. I believe its software. Or when windows got installed it installed it for 680 and now due to new hardware it errors out somewhere.

That's a powerful graphics card. Do you have a 700W+ power supply?

1200 dark power pro. It eats 8 pin + 6 pin. All power up as it should. No OC on CPU or GPU.

Hey, i wish i could get that monster GPU, anyways remove the current graphics card driver with DDU(Display Driver Uninstaller) and install it again.

Note: In DDU make sure to tick the Remove C:/AMD and C:/Nividia folders.

I sent mine back 1- because of reviews 2- because evga released the 980ti at 350.us less
I didn't end getting a 980ti either just got tiered of waiting for them to stock it

They put a hotfix driver out, 353.38 give it a try.

Scroll down to the bottom to download them.

You need to completely remove all the nvidia driver software through add/remove programs. Then get rid of any nvidia folders in C, then use Ccleaner to clean up the registry.

Then install the new drivers.

I`m using 353.30 and have no issues at all.

Was the 680 uninstalled via Device Manager before being removed from the system?

Right so It is EVGA SC

I used DDU and it did find a lot of 680 logs so I think it cleaned it all up.

After DDU the GPU seem got I've actually more FPS in games and behave a bit more stable but still crashes.

I did not uninstall 680. At the begging I had them both in. Then I decided to take out 1 gpu to make sure its not GPU related.

The Crashes are as simple as minimizing chrome. It crashed Screens. All was frozen, music was playing in background. I will try the new hotfix now.

That's probably the crux of the issue. If all traces of the 680 are gone, uninstall the Titan via Device Manager then physically remove it. Reboot using onboard graphics then reinstall the Titan and follow http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/327414-nvidia-drivers-avoid-problems.html for the cleanest possible install of the latest driver.

That sounds strange, to remove GPU from PC and then start using onboard gpu? I dont have onboard GPU on my system.


I keep on testing. Got to the point where PS wont even start any more, just got this errors straight away:

Not sure if I've mentioned but for my OS I'm using

Samsung M.2 SSD SM951 512gb, MZHPV512HDGL OEM model I believe. Got one of 1st batch ones when it got released to "public". As I've installed windows in UEFI mode - I think I tried different bot settings see if that could help. Ended up with fail to load windows and so on... ahh the nightmare of new GPU !

In which case you'd just fit the GPU straight back in and reboot. But seeing as you know best I'll leave you to it.

Not saying I know best. I just dont understand ur suggestion.

U want me to uninstall all.
Shut down PC.
Remove GPU.
Start PC ?
Shut down ?
Put in GPU ?

So update.

I've reinstalled windows.

Installed few basic programs.

Got PS installed. And again cant start it at all. Instant crash. Oh dear why did I upgrade gpu. should have stayed with good old 680

Don`t give up on the Titan X

Yes that's the one I have installed. Fresh windows, fresh chipset drivers, nvidia ones u linked and so on. I'm running now windows update to get SP and other hotfixes, Not sure if they will help but PS should have work without anything straight out of the box

OK, well you mentioned a Privacy Statement, my bad.

Ok so it looks like that after getting SP1 installed the PS started to work. I'll install the lest of windows updates and see if the system is more stable now. Fingers corsss!

If you crash again after updates, try re-downloading PS from Adobe. Anyway, good luck!
