Why my screen is having spontaneous blackouts?

Hello,

I have bought my costum built gaming pc 2 years ago. The GPU is nvidia gtx 1070.
Recently i am facing a problem where my screen suddenly turns to black when i am playing or even when i am doing nothing at all.
These blackouts are about 1 second long. Sometimes longer that my monitor shows "entering safe mode" sign ( as if it is not receiving a signal like when i turn off my pc). And this happens quite a lot.
Another thing i noticed is the appearance of blue horizontal lines temporarily on the screen sometimes.

My monitor is Dell and its blugged through a DVI-d cable.

My gpu driver is the second latest update.


Can you please guide me to the stem of this problem and how can it be solved?

Looks like you have power supply issue and/or micro cuts from the domestic electricity provider.

One solution is to get an UPS station to have better stability and in case of cut-off you could always safely turn off the computer. and also is to check all the wires of your computer if none is badly plugged in onto the Power Supply to the motherboard and graphics card.

Could be the graphics that force the PC shutdown because of a hardware failure that not have enough power while your gaming and when entering in sleep mode

Just to edit. My pc doesnt shut down but the monitor turns off somrtimes for 3 to 4 seconds and shows "entering power safe mode" then it gets back on. The system keeps on where i left.

sounds to me your having over heating issue or maybe just need to update the driver. I would start by power down computer unplug from wall and blow out all bust from fans and heat sink with compressed air clean the whole computer inside.

One thing you can try is to start the computer in safe mode and use the computer for a while. If the problem with the screen occurs in safe mode, then it is probably the screen itself that is the problem. If the problem doesn't occur in safe mode then it can be the driver or worst case scenario, the graphic card in high resolution.
If the problem doesn't occur in safe mode, try to install an older driver version that you know works and see if it solves the problem.

Did you get the monitor with the computer? What size screen is monitor (in pixels)?

Can you connect the computer to monitor via VGA or HDMI? Make sure the monitor cable is firmly pushed into position, and cannot spring out, or dislodge.

Hello,
I unplugged everything, cleaned the pc from inside, made sure that all fans are working peoperly.
Then replugged my pc.

The issue is reduced a lot. The black outs happen much less frequently.

However i noticed that my Gpu tweak software which shows me the parameters of my gpu when i play is showing that "memory clock, MHz is maxed most of the time reaching 8008 which is the maximum ..
Is this related to the issue?

Yes the monitor came with the pc 3 years ago. Its dell e2414h. The resolution is 1920*1080.

I can not connect it right now as it comes only with dvi-d cable.

If you had VGA cable, you could connect that. As you do not, then you cannot find out.

The fact that cleaning the computer has reduced the problem, shows that dust could be the stem of the problem.

Try using your computer with case lid off, or case side panel off. More air will circulate with lid off, thus cooling the computer. It will be noisy sitting next to it, but see if that stops the screen spontaneous blackout occurring.
