    Hello Hawkin,

It's a separate ordered metal backplate add-on that is screwed onto the back motherboard side of the EVGA GTX 480 or 470 graphic card to help lower the running temperature of the card a few more degrees C.

There was also a replacement "high flow bracket" that was given to registered owners of these graphic cards earlier that also helped reduced the temperature a few more degrees C. This was the metal bracket where the monitor connections are at.
Ah. Okey :) Yeah I was wondering if you guys just bought the plate for a cooler design or something lol. But then I get it. Maybe I should consider it for my soon-to-be GTX 480 SLI setup too.

Ive been waiting for the perfect moment to upgrade my GPU's, problem is i really love my gtx280's i want the 480's so bad.
I guess either I wait till the price comes down or my cards die?
I'm with you on that one, I love the 480s, and I'd love to have one. Except, I also love my 10 month old GTX 275 (and I can't afford the 480's pricetag...) So I'll stick with what I have... (for now )

Got my backplate for my 480 today.

Couple of pics for you guys.

Need to remove the little black foam strip on the back. Hard to get off clean, instructions tell you to heat the card up (stress it) right before you remove it to get the foam off easier.

Plate screwed on. Four middle screws go on first.

Card in slot. Barely clears hitting my sound card.

Seeing about a 2 degree drop (Celsius). So overall, with the backplate and new bracket, I'm seeing about a 5-6 degree drop.

    The End.
