Shows one or the other but not both

In BIOS my HDD Drive will be detected as Master but my DVD Rom set as slave is undetected, and when i set my DVD Rom as Master my HDD is not detected.

are you sure the DVD drive is set to Slave. Check your jumpers on the back of the DVD drive. Are any set to Cable Select"? :)

    Good idea. :)

I never used to trust Cable Select to figure it out right and always wanted to set things manually. (I'm an old guy and stuck in my ways.) It works pretty well, though.

It's been a while since I went the Master/Slave route (1864, to be exact - just an inside joke) but you used to also have to have the Master drive at the end of the cable.

(Assuming you have the 80 wire 40 pin IDE cable) If you use cable select on both drives the drive connected to the end of the cable will be master, and the one connected to the center will be slave. If you jumper the drive as Master it doesn't matter what connector it is connected to, it will be master.

Some IDE hard drives require "TWO" jumpers to be set if they are a "MASTER with a SLAVE". Check the sticker on the drive to see if it lists the required jumper settings. It might be easier to set both drives to CS, cable select. Also you can't mix and match, if one drive is set to cable select the other has to be also if they are both on the same IDE cable.
