Printer plugged into Win7 box - how to print from remote XP machine?

I just upgraded my home PC from XP to Windows 7 Professional, running on a 64-bit architecture.

This PC had, and still has, an old HP 920c inkjet printer (circa 2001) plugged into it. There are two other XP laptops in the house, an XP desktop, and a Windows 7 laptop. These all access the printer through our home wireless network. When my PC was running XP and hardwired to the printer, the other boxes could all use the printer.

However, since I upgraded the printer PC to Windows 7, only the Windows 7 laptop is able to print.

I can FIND the printer from the XP machines. I can ADD the printer to the printer list for those machines. But so far, I am failing to print from them.

My guess is that the cause is that the printer is now using a Windows 7 driver, being wired to a Win7 machine, and that maybe I need to somehow configure the XP computers with the XP driver (or the Windows 7 driver? - not sure which to use). HP Deskjet 920c Printer series*-* Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center is the page with the drivers for my printer.

Any suggestions, I'd appreciate - and yes, I realize that a good chunk of my question might be XP-related and not Windows 7, so I appreciate people's understanding here.

Ok a couple of things. One win 7 uses IPv6 (when using homegroup), XP doesnt support it natively. Try running win 7 in workgroup instead (uses IPv4 as does XP)

Next XP driver can be run on win 7 when installed in compatibility mode
(right click the installer>properties>compatibility>choose xp)

Hope these help

Ken, thanks, but I'm still confused (sorry).

I don't understand the step-by-step you're asking me to do.

Also, another nugget of information, and maybe this helps.

On one of the XP laptops in my house, that happens to have the same login/password combination I use on my new Win7 box, I WAS able to print. But from another administrator account on the laptop, with a different login/password, no go.

So evidently XP to 7 printing is doable, but maybe it has something to do with the logins? I'd like it if the XP machine, in adding a new printer, would ask me for my credentials on the 7 machine, remember them, and be done with it.
