Don't you just love the Compaq/HP approach to customer service...

You said there is a patch for the BIOS on the hp WEB SITE. Where did you find it? Under the model of your PC? Yes I do have a HP laptop, but who is to say we are using an HP pc with the HP7410 printer? Can you tell me what the name was on the BIOS Patch?

Sorry to take so long to get back to you...Holidays soak-up a lot of time. The Microsoft tech actually found the patch when she had taken remote control of my computer. She was on my computer for several hours trying different things and I did notice that she had connected to HP and found the patch but I was not following each of the keystrokes/commands she was entering to get there. I would suggest that you contact HP directly.
Just wanted to let you know. I contacted HP. Worked with them for about an hour on this issue. They had me download a patch for there software. It solved the problem. The link for the software is: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01960605&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en
This was very simple to install and it work without a reload. Thanks for your help on this.
this has been an issue with the hp solution cnter 13.0 and hp gave a fix for these problems which generally occur after upgrading from windows vista to windows 7, below are the quick links for your reference

HP Solution Center Patch For Windows 7 To Fix Product Scan And Status Issues
I recently moved and my trying to set up my computer system again. I have an HP Officejet L7590 printer/scanner all in one and I am using a Toshiba Satellite laptop running Vista. At my old house my HP L7590 connected to my PC wirelessly. At this house I want to connect directly via a USB cable. I was able to get my printer working but whenever I tried to scan I got messages that the scanner was not connected to the printer. I was told to re-install the drivers. I did, getting a new version of HP Solutions Center (I don't know what version; where can I find that information) but got errors relating to HP Photosmart. I downloaded HP Creations because Photosmart is no longer supported. Everything seems to work fine, but I cannot find scanned documents. They don't appear in username/my documents/myscans. I created a directory username/my documents/scanned documents but they don't appear there either. I have searched my whole computer for documents named scan* and cannot find anything new. I also searched for all documents created in the last few days and cannot find any new scans. I tried downloading the patch recommended in this thread but HP.com showed a message saying that it was not needed for my drivers. I have wasted about 30 hours on this. Does anyone have a better idea than either pay HP $25 for support or to throw out the scanner?
