New HDD Showing UnAllocated Space
I have just installed another SATA-connected WD 2TB HDD
Before connecting it to SATA, I connected it via a USB enclosure for formatting and allocation.
For what it's worth, I never could get it to show in Windows native Disk Management, yet it showed right up in Free EaseUS Partition Master; once I got it set up, then it showed up in Windows DM.
I had the same experience a few days ago with another HDD.
Had I not have had EaseUS to fall back on, I may have thought I had a DOA HDD.
Now that I have it internally connected and up and running, in Disk Management it shows 8MB unallocated on the left side and 1MB unallocated on the right side.
I might have expected a few stray MBs all connected on the same side.
I know it is only a total 9MB, but this annoys me; I won't be able to sleep tonight.
I right-clicked to see if I could expand the volume, but Expand Volume was greyed out.
Neither of the other two show any unallocated space at all.
Can I fix this or is it normal and necessary ?
Maybe wipe it and reenlist to see if it goes away ?
On EDIT:>>> Update:>>> I have added another identical HDD, everything formatted and connected in the same manner, and this HDD is also displaying the two mysterious unallocated areas; 8MB on the extreme left end and 1MB on the extreme right end.
Maybe it is normal.
Your thoughts and input please.
Thanks for reading and all help is appreciated.
