Pull old hard drive, install new hard drive, boot off Windows 7 DVD and follow the prompts. Don't enter the key until you have rebooted several times and have all Windows Updates. Make sure everything is working correctly before entering your key. -WS
I don't have a windows 7 DVD HP is to cheap and makes a hard drive partion but my hard drive does not work.
Did you create the recovery DVDs? That's one of the options you were given when you first booted the computer.
If not, you need to contact HP and have them send you the Recovery DVD. Cost is usually around $20.

HP charges $39.93($45 with tax!!) to Toronto. I'm going to look for the disks i made when i got it.
Or I could make CD using my Dell and just use the key on the bottom of my laptop. Would that work?
To clean reinstall without the bloatware you'll need a Win7 retail installation DVD. Some OEM installers will work if they are the Win7 Installation DVD and not Factory Recovery disks.
Here is how to get a perfect clean reinstall of factory OEM to avoid reinstalling the bloatware and useless utilities: re-install windows 7
