We need the Sound and Wireless models as well as the makes to help you find drivers. Use the Hardware ID tool I posted earlier. Confirm these are your specifications here: http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/acer...-34138700.html

ATI defers to OEM for mobility drivers. Here is what if found for XP on the web: http://www.downloadatoz.com/driver/a...windows-7.html

Your Mobile Intel HM55 Express chipset has XP drivers here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sear...xpress+Chipset

    OK, got it.
    Network adapters:
    Atheros AR5B97 Wireless Network Adapter
Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller
    Graphics:
    ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650
    Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator HD
    Sound:
ATI High Definition Audio Device (not sure I use it but listed in device manager)
    Realtek High Definition Audio
Everything else seems to be working fine. Download ATI Driver now for XP.
I appreciate your help very much.

I downloaded all the drivers and installed them, unfortunately only the sound drivers managed to work. Why is there no widescreen option? Only 1024by768 which is stretched to fill the 1600by900 screen.

Look in Device Manager to make sure the Display driver got installed correctly, judging by version and date.

If not, click on Update driver tab and browse to the folder where it unzipped to see if it picks it up.

Are you checking Screen Resolution by rightclicking on a blank area of desktop?

Looking in device manager, everything is working correctly, except the drivers in question. These are all under the section Other Devices, and display a code 28 error. The following drivers are:
    Ethernet Controller
    Network Controller
    PCI Orla Acquisition and Signal
    Processing Controller
    PCI Simple Communications Controller
Video Controller (VGA Compatible) (Assuming its for the ATI 5650 card)
Video Controller (VGA Compatible) (Assuming its the Intel HD secondary card)
Maybe I have all these problems cause I'm running 32 bit XP on a machine designed for 64 bit?

The issue is not 32- or 64-bit so much (although 64 bit drivers are harder to find in XP) as it is trying to run XP on a machine that isn't built for it and is too modern.

It then becomes a driver hunt for XP drivers for each device. You need the exact make and model of the Device which is not listed on any of those missing drivers, so you need to use the Hardware Identification tutorial I linked earlier to detect that exact device make/model, then google it + XP drivers and dig through the results to try the drivers.

Only when you can say with certainty that there is no XP driver for XYZ device do you know you have hit a dead end, and that cannot be said until due diligence is done on the search as described and we have joined in to help when you can provide more to work with.

Alright fair enough. This will take a while, as I'm quite busy with exams and all, but it will be fun to get it to work again. Thank you so much for your help. Could you please tell me though which one of those drivers are responsible for wireless internet? That is the first priority, as it will be much faster to search for drivers and install them, plus I can update Windows, which might help a bit.
