I agree entirely.
Either will be fine. If i can dual boot or just use XP, i dont mind.
SORRY! I got it wrong! C was a 30GB partition on a 250GB HDD! I have removed the partition which had windows 7 installed. Now i face another problem. Everything on the PC is on that harddrive. When it asks me to choose a partition to install XP on to, there are 3 options.
Unpartitioned space - 101MB
D: Partition 2 [NTFS] 238373MB
Unpartitioned space - 1MB
The unpartitioned spaces are clearly not enough and i chose partition 2. When i selected it, a message reads, 'This disk does not contain a Windows XP-compatile partition. So, what can i do now?
Boot free Partition Wizard bootable CD, rightclick on D to Explore to see if your files are there.
If not click on the HD, then from Wizards tab run the Partition Recovery Wizard to recover D.
If so you can copy files out with the DVD: Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console
What I would do is use the Wizards tab to Recover C partition you deleted and restore it. If it won't boot after restore, from Disk tab choose Rebuild MBR or boot the Win7 DVD REpair console to Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times
Then let us help you shrink D to install XP in a Dual Boot using Method Two here: Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP
Or you can go ahead and install XP to the Win7 partition space you deleted and access your files later from it. But I would personally get them out.
