Clean Windows 7 (32bit) Install from Windows XP
Hi Everyone
I have an older custom built computer that was running Windows XP 32bit. I am currently trying to upgrade the computer to run Windows 7 32bit.
I tried booting directly from CD; however, after quite a long time, it would finally advise it could not find any install drivers and would not let me proceed. After researching the issue, I created a bootable USB and copied all the files to the USB.
I then booted from the USB, and I was able to complete the installation; however, once the installation completes, the computer is forced to reboot. Once reboot occurs, it advises it is updating the System Registry, then the monitor goes black, and the computer does nothing. My HD light does a steady consistent blink.
I tried going into the F8 menu to attempt booting into Safe Mode (I tried all options), and it comes up that it is preparing my computer for first time use. Then, a warning appears that states the installation process cannot continue in Safe Mode and must restart. I restart the computer, and it goes to the black screen with a steady consisten blink from my HD.
I have unplugged all USB connections, and I have even removed all RAM except 2GB. It still does the same.
Before installing, I did go through the Windows 7 Compatibility, and the report advised everything was a go.
Does anyone have any ideas??
Thanks
