In order to install to an MBR disk on an EFI BIOS you 'll need to enter BIOS setup and either remove EFI Boot disk from Boot Order listings, or look for a setting for Legacy BIOS instead of EFI. Disk - Clean and Clean All with Diskpart Command

Otherwise you'll need to wipe the HD with Diskpart CLean Command followed by the command Convert MBR, then install using these special steps for EFI BIOS: UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with

Unplug all other HD's except the one you want to install XP upon. After install plug back in Win7 HD, set it first to boot in BIOS setup, then boot XP using the one-time BIOS BOot Menu key.

Note that you'll likely have to install both OS's to either MBR or GPT disk as explained in my post earlier. I don't think you can split them, although you can try.

Are you booting the XP installer? Does it show a drive selection screen where you can choose the HD by size, then full format it? If not you'll likely have to Slipstream storage drivers into the XP installer ISO first.

In your situation it will not ask autometically.

Either you are to use the boot menu key to select which hdd to boot up, or you are to set up a dual boot environment.

For boot menu key, look at youe motherboards manual, or the motherboard's splash screen after power up the computer.

For set up a dual boot menu, you are to use easybcd. Download the free non commercial version from the page EasyBCD - Take control of your boot loader | NeoSmart Technologies , install it in either of your installation, and add the other boot entry using it.

I explained this above. You'll need SATA Drivers - Slipstream into Windows XP CD

Better to virtualize XP within Win7, or install problem XP program in Compatibility Mode.
