I need some advise on two (2) desktops

    desktop 1:
    installed win7 64 bit pro.

    desktop 2:
installed win7 64 bit Premium, then an up grade to win7 64 bit pro.

Advise needed: I want to switch the os from # 2 to 1, then put #1 on to #2.

Am I going to have any problems changing the operating systems and yes both machines has enough of everything to make this happen\!

    Thanks in advance

Are the Win7 Pro on Desktop 1 and the Home Premium on Desktop 2 retail copies which didn't come preinstalled on the machine?

And you now want Premium on #1 and Pro on #2 and intend to use the Pro Anytime Upgrade from #2 elsewhere?

If this is the case just boot the installer to Clean Install Windows 7 on each PC. Be sure to back up your files and gather the program installers required for both. Other Best Practices to get a perfect reinstall are the same as those given here.

What make, brand, are the computers. If they are the same brand you should have no problem switching the OS versions.

If same brand although the licenses would be switched you shouldn't have a problem. But then you really do fall into a Licensing dilemma as with OEM versions are not supposed to moved from the original hardware they were installed on.

Not sure how the Any Time Upgrade thing works when reinstalling.
May I ask if they are now both running Win 7 Pro, the one that originally had Home Premium upgraded to Pro with the Any Time Upgrade thing, why do you want to move them around and install only HP on PC 1?

If these are both Retail versions then you can move them all you want.

Well that still doesn't explain why you want to switch the OSs. What is the difference if both are now running Windows 7 Pro and you have paid for the upgrade from Home to Pro, using the Any Time Upgrade system, on the system that originally had 7 HP?

Is it a installed software issue? If it is then you can remove the software from the one system it is now installed on and move it to the other. Nothing stopping you from doing that. The License for that software is good for for one install of that software. So removing it from one and installing on another is perfectly legal.
