Hi Guys,
Sorry to post on an old thread.
I am facing a very similar issue and tried the steps exactly as described but failed.
Problem - I am setting up a new system. I currently donot have a DVD drive hence decided to install win7 via USB thumb. I face the exact same issue despite setting up my ssd drive as described in the posts above.
Can you help me? Should i start a new thread?

As the p8 h67M evo has a uEFI/BIOS firmware.
How to install Windows 64 bit on a uEFI/BIOS firmware:
UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with
or
UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 8 with
UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows
For Windows 7 take note of STEP 11.
Also use a USB 2.0 port, Windows 7 DVD has no USB 3.0 drivers.

I wanted to start another thread for my problem, but I figured I'd post in here since it's the same problem. I followed all of the steps provided to fix the issue of Windows 7 not installing; the Diskpart clean, format, and all that. It took me about 4-5 hours to finally complete, but still nothing. Everytime I get to the installation for Windows and click on my hard drive to install it on, the error message comes up saying that it cannot find or create a partition for the installation.
I don't know what else to do, but this is extremely frustrating. All I want to do is install windows damn it!!!
Anyways, if anyone could help I would really appreciate it.

Unplug all other HD's and peripherals, back up your files as the HD will be wiped.
Boot into BIOS setup, reset to defaults, save changes. (If an EFI BIOS you'll need to decide if you want UEFI BIOS vs. Legacy BIOS. If UEFI follow these special steps for Install, otherwise enable Legacy BIOS or Compatibility Support Module to proceed with normal install.) Set DVD drive first to boot, HD second, set SATA controller to AHCI, Save changes and Exit.
Then boot into Windows 7 installer DVD or flash stick burned or written using tool and latest ISO for your licensed OS version here. UEFI requires special steps here for UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows . With flash stick install make sure you use a USB 2.0 port, try unplugging stick if it errors.
For MBR installs at first installer screen Press Shift + F10, or enter System Recovery Options to open a Command Box, type:
DISKPART
LIST DISK
SELECT DISK 0 (after confirming Windows 7 target HD #)
CLEAN
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
FORMAT FS=NTFS LABEL="WINDOWS 7"
ACTIVE
EXIT
EXIT
Next click Install Now, then Custom install to Clean Install Windows 7 to the partition you created. If it fails then report back at which step and the verbatim error message.
In addition read over these steps to understand the tools and methods which work best to get and maintain a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. The steps are the same for retail.
After install you can adjust partition size or Create new partitions for data, etc. in Disk Mgmt. You are creating the partition here for the purpose of wiping the HD and marking Active which overcomes certain install failures.Last edited by gregrocker; 08 Feb 2014 at 12:29.

I had this problem as well. Try these two simple steps:
Disconnect any USB (external) drives before you begin, and pull the thumb drive when you select the install drive.

Yup that was the right line of thinking
Disabling my two IDE drives that had system partitions on them in BIOS worked for me. I didn't have to pull the USB drive that I was installing from. Setup still saw the disabled drives, but it let me install to my new SATA drive with no problem. Thanks!

Sorry for pulling up an old thread! I'm still having this issue and followed all the steps perfectly. I've now done this twice and I'm doing the clean all command right now for a third time.
This is an older XP Dell PC that I put a new hard drive into to install Windows 7 on. All the drivers exist, I'm not worried about that, just need to get Windows 7 installed. The new drive is 1TB so formatting and cleaning takes a VERY long time.
That being said, every time I go to install windows it says 'Setup was unable to create a new system partition. See log for details' - I don't know where to find this log though?
Anyways, I've tried everything. I'm now doing the extended HDD preparation (SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation) in hopes that I can manually create the partitions.
The USB stick I'm using is Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (it is not an upgrade ISO). I've unplugged the only other SATA drive in the system and made my USB stick Read Only. Thanks!
