I have XP on one drive and want to install Win 7 OEM on another drive

New Egg System Builder OEM is always genuine but technically you did not buy the PC to sell with the OS so it doesn't qualify under the EULA provisions on OEM strictness

I guess i will get the refund of the bad OEM 7 vers, and just go buy a retail Win 7 Prof version so i can use the key from that to license/activate what i have installed already, but also when i buy new MB CPU etc build - i can also install it on that build as well.

I want the Professional Version so I can run XP mode for any of the older programs or games that may have issues with Windows 7 ( I have read about some of them- and seems the XP mose works ok for those)

On The Catlyst- I have OC a few times to get a Game to play better- guessing i wont have to on a new build.

Thanks again for the help, I had so little problems on the XP OEM from newegg on this old build - figured the OEM version was way to go(excepting forseeing these problems), but seeing is how i need Win 7 for this PC temporarily until new build maybe just best to get expensive retail so i can install it on new build as well- and then sell the old one- Was hoping with Windows 8 Win 7 would drop in price.

I guess i have done the F8 before, didn't realize i could accomplish the same thing as the EasyBCD prog.

If the only extra (expensive) feature you need in Pro is XP Mode I would thoroughly test it first before buying the Product Key since many do not like it's limitations on screen size, etc. and others find it isn't' ever needed because their programs will install, if necessary in Compatibility Mode.

So you might only need to change to Home Premium to save a lot of money and gain 2 extra licenses for about the same price. Change versions workaround

Also in my prevous post you quoted, I meant to say "you did not build the PC to sell with OS" is the reason it doesn't qualify for OEM.
