Cannot install 7 from XP
I am currently running XP 32 bit. My computer is fully capable of running 64 bit. When I built the machine I planned ahead for the change over to 7 64 bit. However, I am running in to a problem when trying to do a clean install of 7 64 bit. After the BOIS reads the CD/DVD drive first, i never get the install screen that I am accustomed to seeing when installing any other Windows OS. I get the black boot manager screen that gives me the option of loading Windows or going to the memory diagnostic area. If I hit enter for the Windows option, it appears that 7 is starting up like it normally would if it were installed on the machine. It loads to the 7 desktop background and then that is it. No start bar or ability to do Ctrl-Alt-Del. I have never seen an install disc do this before. For the record it is not an OEM purchased disc, but a disc I burned after downloading the ISO image file after purchasing a license key.
