Fresh copy of win 7 won't go past starting windows screen
Wow, iv'e been installing o/s's for a long time and windows 7 many times but this one has me stumped. for the last two days I couldn't get past the completing installation screen installing 64bit win7 ultimate. Read a lot of posts and seems like a common error. The following have been done to no avail
1 Disabled just about all hardware in bios
2 Tried ACHI and Compatible mode
3 Tried the shift f-10 and try to force it to reboot using explorer.exe (someone told me about)
4 Tried installing in safemode )still hangs)
5 Burned a new iso to dvd windows 7
6 Nothing connected to laptop except screen and keyboard
Now I did have some sucess when I disabled all hardware in bios and put the controller in compatible mode. When installing with this config It did get past the completing installation and rebooted but got stuck on the starting wondows screen.
Now my laptop. This is a Toshiba A505 with core 2 duo 4 gb ram and the HHd is 620gb
If I cant get this fixed tonight I'm going to fry's electronics tomorrow and buy a new drive. To let you know this 620gb drive came out of one of my customers machines with a bad motherboard, but formatted the partition in parted magic and it says the drive is healthy ???.
Could this be a bad drive, or can any one tell me what to do next
Thanks !!
