There should be 32 bit XP drivers, probably in an F6 driver pack like that. It will just take some searching, for the PC model and then the chipset + XP SATA drivers, etc.

If your Win XP CD, does not support your Sata Controller, you will need to load drivers to uses at F6.
Load Sata Controller drivers with a floppy disk is the best way.
SATA Drivers - Load in Windows XP Setup on Dual Boot
    OR
SATA Drivers - Slipstream into Windows XP CD

As you have a Intel Sata Controller you can download the F6 drivers from here:

Thanks for everyone's time and patience.

To summarize I have a windows 7 pro 64-bit with a Intel(R)7series/c216 chipset family SATA AHCI Controller and I am trying to install windows XP pro 32-bit. I have made 7 slipstream discs(thanks again theog for the great tutorials) so far with result either not recognizing my mass storage device at all or iaStor.sys is corrupt. I have followed the last link and read all drivers but none specifically say for the 7series board. Further assistance would be greatly appreciated in tracking the exact SATA driver I need to make my system dual boot from windows 7 pro 64-bit to windows xp pro 32-bit.

Thanks again for all your expert advice.

There are no AHCI f6 drivers for the optiplex 7010. The only way to get XP is to change the BIOS settings to ATA and find right Intel drivers. Unfortunately this tower cannot be set to dual boot. But this does solve my problem of getting XP on the Dell optiplex 7010.

    Thanks for all your efforts.

You can virtualize XP from Win7 using freeware like VMWare, Virtual Box, Virtual Player of XP Mode. This is the easiest solution if you can't find the XP drivers for AHCI or SATA.

Can you explain what you mean by this model can not be "set" to Dual Boot? What are the SATA settings available?
