Windows cannot be installed to this disk
Hello all,
First off thanx for taking the time to read this post. I am having trouble with a clean install of windows 7. I d/l'ed an iso image of windows 7 prem. from off the web and burned it to a dvd. I then set my bios to load from cd/dvd and then went through the windows install process till you get to the partition part of it. I previously had 2 disk partitions on my hdd which I deleted hoping that they would get rid of the corrupted copy of windows I had installed.
after deleting the partitons I restarted my comp as it was running at an ungodly slow pace. when I then got back to the part where it asks where you would like to install windows there is now a message at the bottom of the page saying that I am not able to install windows to this disk. the exact message is "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that this disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu."
I read in a post online that I should try and format a part of this unallocated space, but when I try and do that I get another error which says "error 0x80070017" not really sure what to do about this.
I have also tried to change my bios setting regarding the control mode to AHCI. not really what this does, but I changed it as I have seen other people posting it and saying it will help.
Any help regarding this would be greatly appreciated and if you need any further information plz feel free to ask.
