What install disc do I need to go from W7 Pro 32 bit to 64 bit?

Just got a 6 month old Dell Optiplex 7010 with 32 bit W7 Pro. Want to go to 64 bit. Can I just buy a $10 OEM Dell W7 Pro 64 bit restore disc on Ebay?

Simply put; you need to get the version that says 64-bit on it. I believe its as simple as that unless there is something im missing. But i would not go with just any disk off ebay as there are plenty of counterfeits out there. You must make sure that it has a genuine windows sticker on it. Because if you make a mistake you could end up causing problems for yourself.

No 32bit and 64bit are not compatable to upgrade, you would have to buy a new copy of 64bit and do a fresh install.

That is not correct. The windows 7 license key on the Dell computer can be used to activate either 32 or 64 bit version of windows 7.

To answer your question, yes you could buy that disc but you can also download the iso for the version you have a license for by following this Clean Install Windows 7

A genuine Dell w7 disk would work, but getting one from eBay is a gamble, they can be selling you anything.

By new copy of 64 bit, you mean like these that you see on Ebay?

That will work fine, if you get a legit one, as Britton mentioned.
