That prompt for drivers almost always means a bad installer. Can you try DVD install? If not confirm the full ISO downloaded by size, then format flash stick and write it again.
Does the same thing happen when you boot the stick in another PC?
Can you try DVD install?
ok i will try that, the downloaded Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP1 English Official ISO download file is just 2 GB, does that sound correct?
The size of the download itself should be 3.11 gb, so if the ISO file is not that size I would download another until you have the full file.
That worked :) thanks for your help. The only problem, because I've installed windows 3 times now its created backups of the old windows versions. Eg windows.old and windows.old001 how do i get rid of them?
Better still, how do you NOT create these old windows folders when doing a fresh install?
Always boot the installer, delete all partitions using the Drive Options pictures in Steps 7/8 of Clean Install Windows 7 to get the cleanest install and avoid the wiindows.old archive.
Other steps compiled in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 - Windows 7 Help Forums are the same for retail and will assure you get and keep a perfect install for as long as you stick with them. But I notice I've now mentioned it 3 separate times so is there a problem with reading or understanding it?
Thanks, sorry I should have read it all first, windows 7 installed fine with just one partition. I just need to install the wireless driver, I've read through Driver Install - Device Manager and followed the steps but cant find any wireless drivers in the drivers folder. Do I need to download a specific driver to get wifi up and running?
