I have now reduced profile size by temporarily removing much of my content (music, picture, documents, video) so they will fit onto SSD
Thinking I should put profiles back as default in order that I can use 'upgrade/repair'
The decision on whether to move profiles back off C:\ after repair, can be made later.
It might leave them on C:\ but relocate folders elsewhere (music, picture, etc) as they are what takes up the space.
Welcome advice if I should just go ahead and work through 'Option 1' again, but transpose so I am moving E:\ to C:\
What is in appdata on C:\users\rick?
Folder local, locallow and roaming inside?
Many subfolders? Post screenshots of local, locallow and roaming (if they exist).
Don't relocate the stuff from E to C yet!!
Why copy & merge?!!! MOVE & merge is btter in this case. It updates "my documents", "my music" etc in registry. But why some file has been opened by system???!!! You are not logon as RICK I hope. Is source or destination file locked? Which file?
Anyway you have to define the new profile location BEFORE creation of the user...
Or just after user creation. Otherwise registry has a lot of pointers to E (new profile). In appdata are settingfiles as well. Also pointing to E.
Heads up: Users cannot upgrade to 8.1 Pro if 7 User Profile was moved?
So DON'T relocate the stuff yet! Watch that thread every now and them
