Another "Unloading the Box" Error

I downloaded "DLMWin7HP64US" and when i got to install it, I get this error:

"The application cannot find one of its required files, possibly because it was unable to create it in the folder. Please make sure that the folder in which this application was downloaded is accessible and not read-only."


I downloaded and am installing it from my desktop. I have also tried running it as administrator and it doesn't work.

Any ideas?

Also, I am upgrading from Vista 64 bit if this helps.

Can I upgrade from a 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version of Windows or a 64-bit version of Windows to a 32-bit version of Windows?

No. If you are currently running a 32-bit version of Windows, you can only perform an upgrade to another 32-bit version of Windows. Similarly, if you are running a 64-bit version of Windows, you can only perform an upgrade to another 64-bit version of Windows.
If you want to move from a 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version of Windows or vice versa, you'll need to back up your files and then perform a Custom installation of the version of Windows you want to install. For more information, see Installing and reinstalling Windows*.




I dont know if that kinda answers some questions about this upgrade. But we are about to find out. I'm going to reformat and install Win XP x64 then try the download and install. Ill let you all know if that works. If so that may be the issue.....although i dont know why since others can install without a problem......eh....

Just to clarify: I am going from Vista 64 bit to 7 64 bit.

It looks like the only option is to try to re download and reinstall. It seems that I had this exact problem when I was trying to install the Windows 7 Beta. I think it is a local issue...

I will post what happens. I will check for the 'checksum' you referenced as well.

That is odd. I thought that this issue was limited to folks going from 32 bit to 64 bit. Seems to me like you should not have the issue...but I suppose the bootable ISO approach is an option.

I did an upgrade from XP 32 Bit to Win 7 64 bit on one comp so I dunno how true the 32 to 32 and 64 and 64 is. Why the hell wouldn't they make it to work that way if you have the rig for it?
