    BOOT drive letters not correct


    I recently decided to do a FRESH install of my system, but on another partition from my current OS. I made the error of not booting from the DVD & installed from the DVD while in the current system. The consequence is the C: drive was occupied by the current system & when I boot into the FRESH system it does not revert to drive C:.

    Is there a quick fix or do I need to reinstall directly from the DVD?

    This time look over and follow closely the steps to get and keep a perfect Clean Reinstall Windows 7
    and you will have the best possible install of Win7 which will stay that way as long as you stick with the tools and methods suggested.

Hi, I installed Windows 7 in UEFI mode to an SDD and I figured it would be easy to take my old drive which also had Windows 7 installed, hook it up to a SATA port, and copy over the files that I wanted. In my BIOS interface I can select the SSD drive to boot from, or "Windows Boot Manager"....

1. My machine has XP on a single hard drive w/ 3 partitions. In order to try W7 the easiest thing for me to do is to install it on my E: partition. If I boot into W7, do the drive letters change around or do the W7 system files still show up as E:\WINDOWS? Are there any downsides to this...
