HDD problems while trying to install Windows

Greetings!

Recently I've purchased a new HDD to replace my old one that died. While trying to install a fresh copy of W7 I got stuck at selecting a hard drive to install W7 on. I've tried running DISKPART and then list disk but it said it cannot find any hard drives, so I decided to fiddle around in the BIOS. While in the boot menu of my BIOS the hard drive showed up, but when I got to the storage configuration menu in the advanced tab it didn't show up. Any idea to how I can make it show up when intalling W7, and does the HDD not showing in the storage configuration effect it in any way?

Additional info:

The copy of W7 was tested on another PC and worked fine without any errors given.

My motherboard and hard drive:
1. Motherboard - ASRock 980DE3/U3S3
2. HDD - Seagate ST1000DM003

What exactly do you mean by "I got stuck at selecting a hard drive"?

Did you see a choice for "drive options, advanced" in the lower part of the screen?

For a new drive, you certainly should not have to use diskpart at all. You can, but it's not a requirement.

Is that a 1 TB Seagate?

Did you try attaching the Seagate to some other motherboard port?

Did you have ANY other drive connected when you started the install?

I got to the part where Windows asks which drive I want to install it on. I only saw two options, "Load Drivers" and "Refresh". Yes, that is a 1TB Seagate and I've tried connecting it to other motherboard ports, I also made sure I didn't have any other drive connected.

A new drive needs to be initialized.

I always use my Partition Wizard Boot CD to setup the hard drive or ssd before I even attempt the install.

Bootable Partition Manager| MiniTool Partition Wizard Bootable Edition

It does everything for you.

Just put it in the dvd drive and boot from it just like you would your install dvd.

Once the program fully loads.... just right click on the new drive and you`ll see the drop down menu, you do everything there.

Use it to create a single Primary partition, format it, align it, and set it Active, then click apply in the top left corner, once it says everything has completed successfully, remove the disc, insert your install dvd, close the Partition Wizard window, then reboot the computer. When you see the words "Press any key to boot from DVD" press any key on the keyboard, and you`re off and running.
