Fresh install Windows 7 64bit searching for updates over 24 hours

I've done about 5 different clean installs this week and have attempted multiple fixes form other forums when it comes to searching for updates. The last install which I started yesterday at 7am pacific time is still going for over 24 hours, Once I registered the product key and activated windows it found a new update for the client and since then it's been searching. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again!

    -Update

Service pack 1 is already installed from the cd version that I have. After I activated windows it prompted me to download and install a windows update agent which was windows update agent 7.6.7600.320 and since then it's been searching for updates.

    Hi, @fooploop7:

Yep, @ThrashZone's tutorial ought to get you fixed up.
Same basic steps as those offered in your similar thread at bleeping.

They all end up in the same place: manually installing a few specific patches to get the WU client going (plus IE11, if it's a fresh Win7 install).

Let us know how it goes.

    Thanks,
    MM

You have 30 days to activate, get it working before registering key. During install leave the key box empty. Also Uncheck "Automatically activate windows when I'm online." on the same window as key is asked for during install.

ThrashZone method work very well for me.

With immediate response, the window update completed.

Then the final part may take some time to completed, without any problem.
