Error 80070002, sfc /scannow not working. Can't do repair install

    Hi y'all!

I have tried to explore the SevenForums database for the similar problem but no success so far..

I cannot update my system. Running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. The Windows update gives error 80070002. I have even tried to do the repair install, but the install program just gives me the error message:
'Setup can't continue. Restart the computer and restart Setup. When prompted, try getting the latest updates.'

    Sfc /scannow gives this:
'Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.'

I have also tried to run the System Update Readiness Tool, but no change. The problem just persists.

The cbs.log file gives several rows of errors when running sfc /scannow:
