Trying To Do Clean Install on Windows 7 Pro Laptop. No CD or DVD.

I want to do a clean install on my HP Elitebook 8460p laptop but do not have a CD or DVD.
Can someone direct me to the most efficient and uncomplicated way to do this?
I have tried several methods found on Google but none of them seemed to work.
One method told me the computer had a virus, even though I had run all the security tools beforehand and no viruses appeared then.
    Thanks so much.

There should be an option under the Start menu for doing a factory restore to the original HP specs. There should also be an option for creating a set of factory restore DVDs.

The first thing you need to do is create a set of factory restore DVDs. Have about five or six blank DVD-R disks, plus a permanent marker, on hand before starting; you will likely need only four disks, but have a couple of extras in case one of them is a bad disk. And keep in mind that HP allows you to make only one set of disks (I have no idea why they have that limitation), so be very careful when you are making them.

After creating the factory restore disks, try to do the factory restore from the Start menu. If that isn't possible, then use the Factory Restore disks that you created.

If you are using bootable installation media on usb, either use usb 2 ports, or inject the Renesas usb3.0 drivers into boot.wim.

Avoid using the ports on the left hand side of the laptop that are labeled SS for SuperSpeed. Those are the USB 3 ports.

OK, I'm confused (that seems to happen a lot).... are you saying that you don't have Windows on a physical DVD, or are you saying that your PC does not have a DVD player?
There's a lot of difference there.

I have several laptops, that do have DVD drives installed, but.... I have one little skinny HP that does not have any DVD drive at all, so installing anything from a DVD is impossible.
But thanks to modern technology, there is an easy answer to the problem. It's called an External, USB, DVD drive. They are not really expensive and sure come in handy at times, when a PC has no DVD drive at all or if it has one that's not working properly.

Of all the ones for sale at Amazon, this would be my favorite. It's much like the one I already have.

If this isn't the answer to your own problem, maybe it will help someone else.

    Cheers Mate!

Clean Install Windows 7 - Windows 7 Help Forums

Use Rufus to cretae a usb stick installer, it should be at least a 4GB stick.

Rufus - Create bootable USB drives the easy way

And here`s a simple program I like to use to burn the Iso file to dvd, burn the dvd at the slowest possible speed.

Use the key on your Certificate of Authenticity COA to activate Windows 7. Hopefully you can read it, if not you will have an issue.

It's hard to say. I guess we'll have to wait till he comes back and lets us know.
