Installing XP over Windows7 problems
Hi all, hope you can help. I have had one succesful install of XP over Win7 beta on my laptop, the only hitch was that I had to change the sata drive properties in the bios from AHCI to IDE first.
I now have another problem with my fathers PC, he has a new PC with the Intel DP55WB mobo, did a new install of WIN7 which all went fine, he then decided he didnt like it at all as it would not run many of the programmes he uses or even his printer, also Win7 blue screened all the time untill we removed one bank of 2GB Ram, so the PC is only running on 2GB in one slot and cant seem to run with both Ram chips intstalled, (this BTW also happened on my laptop, now I have XP installed it runs quite happily again with all 4GB installed?), so he wishes to revert back to XP. During the process while booting from the XP cd, the computer gets to the 'Instal windows XP screen', (enter to continue, F3 to quit etc). and literally just as it gets to this screen the keyboard lights go out and does not respond at all to any keys being pressed, it seems to have been disabled totally. It is a USB keyboard. I have looked in the bios and the sata hardrive seems to be set fine, its a strange bois to work out though?
One other question, as I didnt change the settings on the laptop previous to installing Win7 beta, does Windows7 adjust your mobo bios settings on its own?
