Hi everybody.Yet i get windows vista home premium 32 bit operating system.Recently i got 2 versions of windows 7 64bit and x86.At first i wanna be sure that all my files and components i have on my computer will be safely saved during windows 7 installation.
Sorry,Secondly i want someone suggest me which of the versions i need to install if ihave 4 Gb RAM and Cpu 2 Core Quad Q9400.

To answer your questions, we would need you to first clarify the following:
- What do you intend to use your PC for? Is it gaming, video editing, general usage such as email etc?
- Could you let us know about the make and model of your motherboard? If you cannot obtain the information readily, please let us know who the manufacturer is.
- Are you having any issues with your system at present? This would allow us to let you know whether you need to to carry out an in-place upgrade or new installation.
- Whichever way you would like to progress, make sure you first create a backup of your essential files - pictures, documents etc.
- From your specs so far, you would not have any issues running either x64 or x86

Your system should support the 64-bit version of W7, providing that drivers are available (if not already included in the OS).
I would backup all your files/documents etc to an external HDD or CD(s)/DVD(s) or USB memory stick(s). Remember to verify that they have been successfully backed up before you continue. The applications themselves will need to be reinstalled, but note that you may have to obtain updates for some of them to make them W7 compliant.
When you say files and components, that excludes apps - which must be reinstalled. However, everything else (docs, MP3s, JPEGs, etc) you can backup and restore as needed. What to do depends on how/if you have your HDD(s) partitioned.
I always partition my HDDs to create a primary OS partition. On that partition, I ONLY install the OS. Why? Because, I can create image backups and restore as necessary without endangering my treasured data - which resides on different partitions or HDDs. After all, it is primarily the OS that may become corrupt and need to be "cleaned," reformatted, or restored - something that is rarely required for data partitions (malware attacks the OS not JPEGs of your dog).
So, backup your treasured data, install Win7, reinstall your apps, then restore your data files if they were inadvertently altered or wiped by the Win7 installation.
Which version: x86 v. x64? Well, most apps are still written for x86 so that will give you the least headaches. What headaches? Finding/updating drivers for x64. The issue is getting better as more developers are creating x64 drivers for their apps but there is a way to go. The immediate primary advantage of x64 is the ability to access greater than the 3.8 or so GB RAM limit enjoyed by an x86 OS. Do you need/have more than 4GB of RAM?
Depending on your needs, you may very well be well served by the x86 OS and will not likely notice the difference between it and x64. Driver issues WILL, however, become a part of your life with the x64 OS.
