I have a wireless NIC, and it accesses the network as fast as it should, with UltraVNC completely smooth. What the hell...my wired LAN is screwed. This is a weird problem.
You have probably already tried this, but have you replaced all your ethernet cables (not just unplug them and plug them back in)? They often go bad. I just replaced one today, in fact, that was reducing my gigabit NIC speeds over the LAN on one computer by approximately 99%. It still worked but speeds were awful.
I had two extra lan wires, which i replace it with mine and my bro's old wires with no avail.
Bro's ON = Okay, Off = Not okay, Unplugged = A-Okay.
It's as if my PC is taking juice from my bro's PC to access the network card. It's absolutely weird. It has to be a network setting or such. But nobody did a thing.
I did check his NIC settings. Wake up option was turned off. And rest of the settings were normal, at default.
But what i don't understand is...why is his PC affecting mine?! There is absolutely no connection. Why the presence of his PC on the network speeds up my access? What's the connection. Is it the router? Or the XP machine? Argh.
My middle brother returned from our home country to find that he has the same problem! He also has Windows 7 on his laptop. With my bros PC on or unplugged from the router, his wireless transfer is normal, otherwise it's extremely slow.
Wow. So this is a Win 7 problem..all of a sudden? Is it the router? Or the XP machine?
