    Wireless channels?

Hi I know I should pick channels 1,6,or 11 but not having any device other then my ps3 I cant run a channel scanner. I have no idea what my neighbors wifi's channels are should I just leave my routers channel on auto as it is always changing wifi channels my guess it's got a built in scanner I don't know if thats true it's a cheep belkin N150 or should I just go for a shot in the dark and pick one of the 3 channels?

try this free program. Download inSSIDer and Discover the Wi-Fi Networks Around You | MetaGeek

it will show you what channels are being used in your neighbourhood, and so you will know which channels to avoid.

ah sorry, reading your post, you say you can't use a scanner as you don't run windows - is that correct?

oh well, i'll leave this post as it is as it may help others.

maybe you can persuade a friend to come over with a laptop to scan for you?

or if you have an android phone, wifi analyser does a similar job.

All you can do is try different settings and see what happens.

By and large it's best to leave your router on auto as it should be able to determine which is the best channel to use.

If you find performance is taking a hit or the connection keeps dropping then by all means choose another channel.
