Make USB Drive available for backup to other PC on home network

I have an external USB drive attached to my PC, and would like to use it to back up my partners PC. We share a home network (both linked to Broadband Router). I am sure that it should be possible, but I have tried Homegroup (doesn't seem to do what I want) and I have created a folde on that drive and tried to make it shared with Everyone - that also seems not to work as I am asked for a user name and password when using the Network link in File Manager.

I feels that this should be easy, but I cannot seem to find out how to do it.

    Any suggestions, anyone?

    Hello,
If your modem/router supports a usb connection then you maybe able to share storage from there.
What is it's model and make.

MeOnMine - thanks for the idea, but it is a Belkin N Wireless modem router with no USB ports, so I do not think that that will work

    Hi jcaswell,

In addition, did you setup a network share of the actual USB drive (not the folder(s) stored) and then grant a full permission to everyone?

You may also follow one of Brink's Tutorial.
