I'm a newbie to this forum. So my question maybe misplaced. If it is, please let me know.

My network seemed slow to me, so I just started to poke around to see what I could see. That always seems to get me off on some insignificant tangent, so I hope this is not a flyer.

I was looking at the windows 7 task manager's "performance" tab. In addition, I activiated the resource monitor. I noticed a relatively high degree of network activity from a "WDDriveService" and it seemed to be connected to "iphonesubmissions.apple.com". What is going on? I do have a WD drive and I also use iTunes, but this I find rather strange ... and why the relative heavy traffic?

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated,

Welcome to Seven Forums oldteche. iphonesubmissions.apple.com is the MDCrashReporter, from iTunes (mdcrashreporttool.exe) It is apparently also used for syncing.

The WDDriveService is a little stranger. I see numerous threads of it constantly connecting to the internet, but no explanation of what it does. Some say it is involved in a WD backup, but others say they don't have the backup enabled.

It is possible the iTunes is just connecting via the WD service? You can set both of these services to disabled and see what effect (if any) this has. Either on your network speed, or either program.

Thank you A Guy for your insight and recommendation. I did disable WDDriveService and left iTunes untouched. I will monitor this instance to see what happens. Will let you know results. Thanks again.
