Wifi adapters (2) no longer working

Hello and thanks in advance. Please forgive any lack of knowledge I

may have. I am somewhat pc savvy but not much. My older desktop pc

doesn't have wifi built in so I have used an external usb adapter.

Most recently a ralink one. It started having issues and i would

disable then enable and would fix the problem. Then one day my pc

wasn't seeing it at all. I thought it might be the usb extension i was

using and plugged it directly into my machine that worked about 10

mins. I ran the troubleshooter and got this message "The wireless

network adapter is experiencing problems" so then i tried a second

adapter that has also worked in the past with the same exact results.

In device manager it says it is working properly. in the network and

sharing center under change adapter settings its there but it says its

disabled. when i click enable it says it enables it but no changes at

all. then when i click diagnose it says "There might be a problem with

the driver for the wireless network connection adapter" "windows

couldn't automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the network

adapter" so then it says try these repairs as an administrator so i do

and it gives me the same error. The only fix i have tried that did not

work was going into computer management under services and got the

error "windows could not start the WLAN auto config service on local

computer Error 1068 The dependency service or group failed to start"

i downloaded the xirrus wifi inspector however it did me no good because i am unable to enable the adapter.

Also I have been using my phone to tether since i cant get any wireless networks.

okay so I have also uninstalled my AV and ran malwarebytes and ADwCleaner. I completely uninstalled the wireless adapter went to belkins web site found the correct driver to no avail. Am still diligently searching the forums and trying as many things that others have tried and worked.

any assistance would be greatly appreciated
