Force connection to limited access network?
I'm trying to connect to a network with no Internet access. I do a demo in which I connect to a wifi router which 'manages' a very limited network with a web server and a dozen or so other PCs. This network does *not* have Internet access by design.
With My Win 7 Ultimate/x64 Dell 6430U, I sometimes can't maintain a connection to this network. It will complain (correctly) that there is 'limited Internet access' and endlessly connect / disconnect.
Sometimes it works fine, but in other cases it doesn't. I can't definitely say when it will fail, but it seems to fail most often in big hotel conference centers when I'm trying to do a workshop.
It does *not* try to connect to other available wireless networks. It just connects to the one I've specified, complains about limited access, and disconnects, over and over again.
I have a dozen other computers - Macs, Linux laptops, a Chromebook, a couple of other Win7 machines, and WinXP machines, all of which work perfectly every time.
I have pulled out nearly all my remaining hair over this problem. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
The wifi adapter is listed as an Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6205, and I think Windows is managing it.
