    incoming VPN and default gateway

I set up an incoming PPTP VPN to my computer. It works great, but the one thing I can't figure out is how to configure whether only traffic destined for the remote local network is forwarded, providing me access to my printer and file shares and such, or whether it should act like a proxy and forward all traffic.

For example, when I connect to it currently and go to whatismyip.org, it shows my home ip address. I want that sometimes, but sometimes I want to browse the web through the default local internet connection, but have access to my printer as if I were on the LAN at home.

I tried unchecking the box in the connection properties that says "use default gateway on remote server" but that doesn't change anything. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

OK, so I feel dumb. The problem is that I was unchecking the box for IPv6 the whole time. If you ever do this, make sure you're using IPv4 settings. Unless of course you can actually connect to the internet via IPv6, in which case you should know what you're doing anyway :P
