Out of all the botched updates listed, I only have KB2976897 installed and rebooted fine. Running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1. Should I be concerned with KB2976897 and uninstall it?

If you're not having any problems I think you'll be fine with the update. I'm also one who wasn't affected by the bad patch. It seems like only certain machines are affected by it. I'd say keep the update.

When I updated on Saturday only KB2976897 was available not the other two. Having seen this thread I installed the update by itself first with no problems after the update; I then installed other updates that were available. Perhaps a synergy of these three updates together caused a problem with some systems. My system is Win 7 Ultimate 64bit.

I am not a conspiracy theorist, but suppose we both took this occasion to upgrade to Win 8? (Microsoft's current Vista failure OS) and a lot of others too, maybe that would boost MS's bottom line...Naw, the world's not filled with mega corporations that intentionally gig the little guy, right?

Well it affected Windows 8 too. But seems there are more Windows 7 PCs with the issues.

On the other hand, Windows Vista was a big step in the development to Windows 7.

No problem here either. Font issues are related to OpenType Fonts, .otf files, installed in non-standard font directories. This is visible in the registry because a path is included in the font name in the Data column.
Check manually in regedit or run this in a command prompt to see if you have any:

reg query "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts" | find ".otf"

If you remove | find ".otf" at the end you'll see all fonts.

Note:
Looks this is a Three-in-One Security Update for all the mentioned article IDs. Whereas one could wait the Security Update through the automated Windows Update.

Hi there

I must be doing something totally wrong - as I often see issues regarding Ms updates and BSOD's and I can't say I've ever had a problem with the standard Ms updates whether on W7 or W8. I suspect that people who might have problems have installed various 3rd party programs like Registry cleaners, driver detection software, uninstallers such as Revo, or other "Speed up system" type of stuff.

The latest updates work for me just fine.

Well, the benefit of the doubt made me uninstall all the previous "offending" updates offered August 12, 2014 patch Tuesday.

I lived well without them and now, today i installed fine that one...let's see further in the day what could happen! :D

This one is still not offered and my files remains untouched (part of the ones i've uninstalled back then):
