March IE Cumulative Security update is included in the Monthly Quality Rollup. So, if you downloaded the March Rollup it should be updated when you check IE (about).
This might clear things up, I hope.
March 2017 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 The last on the list is IE . It's article # matches the KB # I have under Installed Updates KB4012215, and,
The MS17-006 version # for my system matches the version # on my IEabout window: (4012204)
Hello Anak, On the previous page on Microsoft Update Catalogue is says kb3125574, I am probably wrong
but I thought that one was from May, 2016.
Okay back up and running okay. I didn't reinstall this month's updates just yet. I'll wait a few days and see if anyone else had similar issues. I don't think the download got corrupted because the update installed okay and it showed up in update history. It was only after the next reboot that I has problems.
Thought router had packed up. However running a check revealed DSL connection down. Replaced Master Socket and ADSL Filter. Still had no connection. Trimmed back a couple of wires and connection started working. :)
Well update installed okay and showed up in update history after the reboot. It was after the next reboot a few minutes later that I got the problem. Internet connection is now fixed. Had to replace Master Socket and ADSL filter. I'll hold off on this month's updates for a few days and see if anyone else got boot problems.
Hi,
Post a disk management screen shot just for kicks or the record
Don't wait for my results I'm sitting back for a while or at the least mid next week :)
Here's screenshots. Drive labelled V is a RAMdisk so doesn't show up in the first screenshot.
EDIT: Don't worry about it. I've figured out what caused the problem (I think)
During repairs I tried lots of things including restoring registry hives and lots of other stuff. Anyway nothing worked but when I managed to stop the startup repair loop one error message mentioned that Windows could'nt boot because of a corrupt CI.dll file. Obviously I tried to replace it but even my backup copies (all of them) gave this error message when attempting to copy or rename them. C:\CIdll is corrupt.
Anyway the updates just showed up again so I downloaded them without installing. Guess what shows up in the list of files to install?
So I looked it up:
boot critical file C:\CI.dll is corrupt - Microsoft Community
So I'm hoping that the update will install okay. I've just tested CI.dll and can copy/ paste/ rename it without any issues so maybe the system image rollback got rid of the culprit. While Windows' repair tool mentions it as the cause, CI.dll IS NOT THE PROBLEM.
The problem is a virus in the HDD Master Boot Record.
EDIT: Better check MBR before installing updates. Nothing shows up.
