Show Us Your Rig [8]

Hi, guys.

Thought I'd show of my new case, CPU cooler, and fans that I'm using with my system now.

Picked up a Corsair 750D, a Corsair H110, and 5 NOCTUA NF-A14 industrialPPC-3000 PWM fans (2 of which are being used with the radiator).

Doing some OC long run stability tests on the CPU now to see where I can safely set it for 24/7 OCing for crunching for BOINC and hosting my Minecraft servers. This cooler is definitely doing a better job than my Corsair H80i did.

Nice clean build there, Wrend. Looks very good. Well done. How much space is there from the top of the board to the bottom of the radiator?

Wrend how quiet are those Noctua Industrial fans? I have been reading a lot about them.
The colors are much better than the normal Noctua fans.

**Very neat and clean just the way I like computers>**

Does that Corsair 750D give you plenty of room behind the motherboard tray for cable routing?

Small suggestion if I may.
If you are not going to use fans in the bottom cover them up. It will help with positive case pressure.

Very nice build Wrend. Clean. Wish Noctua would have had that color for their fans when I built. I don't mind the old color but black would matchup well with the case. Maybe I'll get em anyway and swap out.

My latest build (see signature for specs). Going to replace the power cables with some braided ones – just haven’t gotten around to it yet.

Primary use is a gaming rig (even though I suck!) but also acts as a music server, streaming to a Squeeze Box Touch that’s in another room. And, as you can see within the other picture it is used as a digital front end for my headphones. Ya I like my music!

Other equipment in the picture is…

Technics SL-1210MG5 Turntable
PS Audio GCPH Phono Preamp
Teac UD-501 USB Dac
Bryston BHA-1 headphone amplifier
Headphones in the picture are….
Denon AH-D2000
Sennheiser HD800 (with custom balanced cable)
Audeze LCD-2 (waiting for custom cable – cat ate original!)

here is my final rig all complete!!!!
So, this is my final rig. i do not plan on adding anything else except some more games :D all my specs are down below. So as some of you may or may not know, i turned 18 on November 30th, then on December 4th, i finally enlisted in the military. it has been a long time dream and goal of mine for quite a few years and i finally had the chance to act on it. anyway, im saying this because between the time i finish up my senior year and the time i get shipped out for basic, i will be training a lot, and overall, i just want to enjoy the time i have and get some new experiences. so i wont be on as much as i am currently. i plan to drop in a few times and what not, but i have a few months left, and just want to enjoy them as best as i can. also, i might as well let out a secrete i had for a long time. my actual name is not n00berg00ber, its actually Quadrider10. the account that got banded a while ago... so if i get banded again over that, its been awesome guys! and thank you for everything that all of you have done and your plethora of knowledge! (pls dont ban, ive been good since :D) if anyone of you want to play some games, my steam account is "Quadrider10".

Nice move on the front radiator.

If your interested I noticed a lot of new colored cables here just the other day.
Haven't used them myself.

I buy most of my stuff through a local dealer. I prefer getting things locally.
Sometimes his suppliers don't carry what I want.

Give your local dealer the part # you found on line of what you want and see what they can do for you.

If you treat your local dealer nice by buy things they will treat you the same way; Nice.

My dealer picked me up 2 Intell 730 240 gig ssd off of Amazon for $119.00 @ with no markup for him. Why is simple. I buy thousand of dollars of stuff from him and the price was much cheaper than he could get them and he is a Intel Dealer. At that time he couldn't get them from Intel that cheap.
I don't use credit cards so I can't buy off of Amazon or sites like them.

The next day I found Intel 730 ssd 480 gig on supper sale and gave him a call and he picked up a couple for him self. He really doesn't have time to on line searching.

Beware; sometimes Performance P.C. prices are way out of bounds.

Thanks for the positive feedback, guys. Took a fair amount of effort setting up the new case and components that well. There's a whole lot of wired connections going on in there that are mostly all but hidden from view. One look at all the cables connected to the power supply gives a good idea of some of it though.

Nice clean build there, Wrend. Looks very good. Well done. How much space is there from the top of the board to the bottom of the radiator?

It's closed up and not too easily accessible where I have it now, but rough estimate: About 2 inches.

They're quite noisy at high RPMs, mostly just from the large amount of air they're moving (wind noise), but there is a small bit of noticeable fan whine then as well. At lower RPMs they're not completely silent, but nothing that I would concider to be a distraction nor deterrent. I got them mainly for their overall performance potential and not so much for being quiet. I wouldn't recommend them to someone looking for a silent build, but otherwise, I'd highly recommend them.

There is a decent amount of room on the back of the case for cable routing, as you can likely surmise from all those cables coming out of my power supply. There's roughly around 1 inch.

I'm actually a little on the negative air pressure side of things with this setup, so I have the bottom opened up to let air in there instead of pulling it through, say, the optical drives and whatnot as much. Reason for this is to exhaust CPU heat out the top of the case to help keep the GPUs cool, working with convection, etc. The GPUs take priority since they do the vast majority of the data crunching on the computer. I realize dust buildup will be a concern, but it should be easier to keep this setup clean than it was with my former case. Cleaning off the radiator grill should be pretty easy as well (for the most part).

Very nice build Wrend. Clean. Wish Noctua would have had that color for their fans when I built. I don't mind the old color but black would matchup well with the case. Maybe I'll get em anyway and swap out.

Go for it. They're awesome fans performance-wise, having a third again more airflow, and nearly 5 times the static air pressure of most 140mm fans out there. I only wouldn't recommend them to people that prefer silence over performance, as they can get pretty loud at higher RPMs, mostly from wind noise.

I would run them at a low RPM but I've nixed the plan of getting these for this build; I'd need to gut the system to install them, and I'm not doing that just to have a better internal color scheme. I may be building a second PC later this year and these new Noctua will definitely be in that build. I've read reviews and I'm sold.

Nice! I rarely buy stuff on line. I’m the type of person who likes to look at a product in the flesh before I drop my money on it. After I put this recent machine together a few days later I decided to get a new monitor as well – what’s a new computer without a new monitor?? Returning to the store where I purchased all the parts for this build, the manager knocked $70 off the retail price of a new BenQ 32inch monitor. No questions asked!

Many deals can be found online. But nothing beats the experienced that can be had through a friendly retailer.

Unfortunately I can't find the majority... well, really pretty much any of the computer components I want locally, unless it's something like blank optical discs (which I rarely use these days). Just a small selection of "big box" stores here to find computer parts at (Best Buy and Walmart), but it's mostly just the run of the mill, mass marketed stuff. Usually nothing I'm after.

Fortunately that isn't the case with some of the other hobbies I'm into. (Not sure that I'd necessarily describe my home computer usage as a hobby really, but close enough I guess.) There's a nice RC model hobby store locally that is a treat to shop at. Knowledgeable and helpful staff, and if they don't have what I want, they can usually order it. Very cool guys that are into some of the same things as me.

Anyway, my point is that I agree that it can be very nice having a good local store to work with, but for me at least, sometimes on-line investigative shopping is the only way to find out what the options are and get what I want. Fortunately I rather enjoy looking at/watching tech reviews and reading up on forums that have members with similar interests as me.

Now they are some absolutely beautiful GPU`s Wrend, I`m still saving to get my 2 EVGA GTX 980 SC.

I have to agree.. Gorgeous indeed. Though I might be a bit biased since they're exactly the same visual style as my twin 780Ti's. Which, incidentally, also call a 750D their home.. I must say, you have impeccable taste with regards to your PC components. :D
