Boot time getting slow... hangs on hibernation and sleep mode
Hey everyone! I have a two year old Compaq Presario F756NR laptop which used to be quite speedy when starting up, but now I find myself stuck at the Compaq boot screen for quite a while before Windows loads. If I put my laptop into hibernate, the laptop just hangs at the boot screen and I have to reboot it in order for it to start. If I put it into sleep mode (which I only do on accident now :/), there is no way for my laptop to resume except for removing the battery (holding down the power button will not shut it off in this case).
Where should I go from here? My brother assisted me in updating the BIOS, but it didn't do much. I've tried other operating systems, but they don't affect the boot time. Would it be best to wipe my computer or is there something less drastic?
I have to admit, I'm quite clumsy... I have ran into doorways before while holding my laptop. :/ This has led to the slow failure of my CD/DVD drive so I cannot re-install Windows through that. (My USB ports are all fully functional, though.) Am I just slowly destroying my laptop with my lack of coordination?
Thanks everyone!
