Shut down is REALLY, REALLY slow.

First if you had an upgrade DVD and you upgraded (programs did not have to be reinstalled.) do it over and do a clean install
If you did a clean install try a clean boot to find problem

If you've had these problems (20 min shutdown - ) and then have had to play with the registry and msconfig my suggestion would be to reformat your drive, reinstall windows and start from fresh.

If you upgraded from Vista or XP, yes, you may lose a few things but you'll be far better off to reinstall. Just save any critical important data first. You can always get that back. Good luck :):):)
