I'm sorry if I posted this on a wrong part of the forum. I've ran sfc /scannow on Admin's mode in CMD. All it shows is this:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

I've used the HD Diagnostic tools and the Chkdsk via ABO.
HD Diagnostics tools shows that the test passed.
Chkdsk via ABO shows that the Disk has no bad files.

@Brink I will do that after I come back from school.

Thanks, your help would be appreciated.

I ran SFC /scannow again but at the first percent it shows the "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log"

@Brink I don't know when was the time/day when the bad file occurred. & I don't really know how to check what system file is missing.

Just a question, but do you have an AMD (ATI) video card and did you recently update to the Catalyst 10.12 driver? :)

I'm having the same problem. The files were these:

atiriol6.inf
atiilhag.inf

It started after a comedy-of-errors attempt to update the ATI video driver. (Yes, I uninstalled and thoroughly cleaned out the old ones first...)

I looked through your log very briefly, but didn't spot anything. If you are having the same problem with the same files then I think we at least know what caused it. In my case, driver rollbacks, reinstalls, uninstalls, and a Hopi Rain Dance didn't help. Going to see about extracting the files (a la Brink's Tutorial) when I have time.

I've attached a copy of my exact situation so you can see if it looks like yours.

PS: I'm not trying to hijack your thread, but when I saw the title I went "hmmmm". Hope this sheds some light on things. :)

@profdlp Yep. I tried uninstalling, using driver sweeper to clean out ATI leftovers and finally reinstalling the previous version 10.11 ATI Catalyst. But the problem is still there.

Xplicit,

Sorry for the late reply. I wanted to see how the ATI driver suggestion worked for you first.

I looked at your SFC's CBS.log, and there was no mention of any corrupted files that it found or could not fix. Are you sure that you ran the sfc /scannow command and not a sfc /verify command instead.

If you did run sfc /scannow, what does it say now if you run it again?

So is mine, which is why I'm going to try the extraction method.

Try what Brink just mentioned, first, since we're still not sure we're looking at the same problem. :)

@Brink Hmmmmmm... Now that's weird. It used to have this "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log" problem. But now it shows that there's no more corrupted files. Weird..

Hi,

Often a few attempts at sfc /scannow may eventually fix the problems, if I am not mistaken.
