Windows 7 PC lagging
I've searched and searched but could not find the answer so that is why I am posting this. If it has been answered before, please just let me know so I can close this thread.
I built my own PC and have been using it perfectly for a year now. Suddenly, I turn it on one day and it begins to lag and freeze. Cursor skips around the screen and especially when watching any video (small or large), the PC heavily hesitates and is very choppy.
PC Configuration:
Asus P5K Mobo + E5500 Pentium Dual Core Processor + 4 Gigs Corsair DDR2 RAM + ASUS CD/DVD/DVD-R + MSI N94GT-MD512 GeForce 9400 GT Graphic Card + 1TB Seagate HDD + Windows 7 x86 Professional Edition.
I've done my research and I am up to this point:
Did "msconfig" and turned off pretty much all software running in the background.
I've defragged and checked for errors on the HDD's; Windows 7 it showed no problems.
Deleted cache and cookies from internet.
Did memory test using MemTest86; no memory problems.
Did CCleaner, cleaned registry, folders, etc.; no problems.
Re-downloaded drivers for graphic card, no problems.
Re-downloaded drivers for mouse and keyboard (both Logitech)
Swapped the mouse's wireless receivers into different USB slots.
Up to this point, no conflicts are shown in "My Device"
I even re-installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 back into the PC.
After all of this, the PC still lagging and twitching. I figured (accepted) that it may be a hardware issue, but where do I start? Any suggestions if it could be Graphics Card, HDD, Motherboard or even processor? Could it be a simple cable?
Please, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
