    New applications not highlighted in start menu


    New applications installed not highlighted in start menu


    Hi everybody i installed a few new applications. After installation i don t see them in my startup menu, not like in xp were new applications were marked via new programs installed - I already tapped the options show newly installed programs but still they arent show up

    Anybody any suggestions?

    Hi broeckie27,

    It may well be that the applications you installed didn't create Start Menu Items (alot don't nowadays from what I've seen)

    Could you be a bit more specific about which apps they are? chances are someone uses them and can tell you whether they have Start Menu entries.

    Also: You can add them yourself, by going to C:\Users\<Your Username>\Start Menu\Programs and putting shortcuts in there :)

    I have the same problem... when installing a program it will create an icon on the desktop. in the All Programs menu it creates a "folder?" and when I choose this it displays (empty)

    This happens on both of my Win 7 machines - 1 is Win 7 x32 and the other is a Win 7 x64...

    the concern is many programs normally install more than the run shortcut for the program - there may be an un-install or maintenance option missing...

    If should work, if you have "Highlight newly installed programs" checked.
