Try looking in your nvidia control panel.

My nvidia panel has it set to be whatever the 3D application tells it to be. Hence I ask, does windows have a setting for it when the effects are turned on. I haven't been able to find one.
I don't think Windows has any settings to change this sort of thing, i may be wrong, but i've never seen anything like it before. If you have the same useless NVIDIA control panel that i do, i doubt it'll be much help either.

I'm still baffled as to why you're getting this problem in the first place, i know you can work around it with turning Aero off and tweaking the PS performance settings but you shouldn't have to!

Yeah I dunno. It's weird. The only the nvidia control panel can do is to force v-sync off.

i think i'm gonna try something on my old crt and see if it really is the v-sync issue.

    Photoshop lag

I had the same issues with CS2 with my Wacom tablet, turns out Windows 7 Pen and Touch and Flicks was causing a conflict.
Go to Pen and Touch in control panel and disable "press and hold", "start tablet pc input" and then disable "flicks" from the other tab.
This cured any lag I had, worth a try. Check out the Wacom forums for more information, theres loads of others with similar problems.

I'll look into that, but I've already disabled the pen tablet service, and the lag delay happens with a regular mouse as well as the tablet. Even when i uninstalled the tablet I was still getting the delay.

EDIT: messed with the press and hold. Still get the delay if the nice interface is on. Don't notice a delay if I strip out all the extras.

@ HeroGhost - How did you get on with your older monitor?

EDIT: I just came across this in my RSS Feed, have a goose!

There's not much we haven't already discussed but it's worth a look anyway.

tried on both monitors.. The monitor doesn't seem to make a difference. And like I said, it's not just photoshop.

It kinda sucks. I like all of the added effects of 7. But if i have them on, the lines drag a half inch behind my cursor..

Are all of your mouse settings in control panel default?

Yeah. But I have an MX518 logitech mouse if that makes any difference. I get the same drag with both my tablet and my mouse. The cursor itself is where it's supposed to be, but the line it's drawing has to run to catch up. I wish i had a way to video capture what it looks like. The only thing i can think of is either I need more ram, or my current 2.4ghz is not able to keep up with everything in real time.

I even notice a slight delay when highlighting text on a webpage when the effects are on. Though that is extremely slight and I could be imagining it.

I found this in a search: they need to fix this asap (aero and vsync)

It makes me wonder if I'm not onto something with the vsync feature. There's gotta be a way to disable it. I've tried the nvidia option to force it off, but forcing doesn't always work. There's been times I've tried forcing AA and that didn't work, so I dunno if it's really off or not.
