Can not start registry editor - please help!!

I am new to W7 but everything had been okay until I tried to do a registry tweak for media center.

When I launch the regedit I get the UAC message but then nothing happens. I tried running it as admin and also from the windows directory itself but it will not start.

Anybody got any ideas or similar problems?
